Faculty and graduate students in CLAS are eligible for a number of awards and recognitions, several of which are administered within the college. This page provides information and links for submitting nominations.

There are 3 categories for this award:

• Senior Faculty International Educator of the Year
• Junior Faculty International Educator of the Year
• Staff International Educator of the Year

About this award:

• A 1-2 page personal statement by the nominee describing international engagements and contributions to the internationalization of UF is required.
• One letter of endorsement from the nominee’s chair or director is required.
• Note: If selected by the college, the nominees will be asked to provide an additional two letters of support, each no more than two pages, from supervisors, colleagues, and/or students, and a high-resolution photo for transmission to UFIC.

CLAS Policy: Department Chairs may nominate a maximum of one candidate per category by sending to Bianca Evans-Donaldson (bevansdonaldson@ufl.edu) no later than September 20, 2024. CLAS may nominate 2 for each category. Tenure track and non-tenure track faculty are eligible.

Deadlines:

• Nominations of eligible graduate faculty from students, faculty and administrators are due to college offices by October 18, 2024. Please send the nominations information to Jane Santos (jane.santos@ufl.edu).
• The completed application packets are due for college review by November 8, 2024.
• Faculty candidates selected by the college are to be submitted to the Graduate School no later than January 17, 2025.

About this award:

• Nomination packet requires a letter from Chair, but no college endorsement is required.
• These awards are managed at the department level but Chairs are asked to advise their cognizant AD when nominating a graduate student, and to notify their AD when a student wins.

• All college-level winners will receive a $2,000 award, and three of these recipients will be eligible to compete for an additional award in the university-level competition.
• CLAS teachers and advisers will typically receive a total of 7 awards.
• All materials, including nomination forms, should be submitted to Jane Santos (jane.santos@ufl.edu).

About this award:

• The oldest and most prestigious award offered to UF faculty, this honors a faculty member whose scholarship or creative activity is recognized both nationally and internationally as innovative and pacesetting, and whose teaching and mentoring are exemplary.
• Automatic induction to UF’s Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars (ADTS).
• Honorarium of $6,000.
• One nominee per college.
• The selected faculty member will receive an SEC Academic Consortium Faculty Achievement Award and will be considered for UF’s nominee for the SEC Professor of the Year Award.

Deadlines:

• Send nominations and CV to Mary Watt (marywatt@ufl.edu) no later than October, 2024 for college review. Please do not advise your nominee.
• The nominee selected by the college will then be asked if he/she wishes to submit the package, which is due at the university January 17, 2025 .

About this award:

• Program recognizes those who provide the very best educational experiences for our graduate and undergraduate students while maintaining excellence in other areas of scholarship.
• Faculty members inducted into the Academy receive $3,000 per year (total of $9,000 over 3 years).
• Scholars are expected to be active participants in Academy programming and governance during at least the first three years of membership.
• At the conclusion of their three-year term, scholars will retain the title of Distinguished Teaching Scholar and continue to be a part of the Academy.
• Two new members per year.
• Self-nominations are acceptable but must be accompanied by a letter of support from the nominee’s chair, director, or associate dean.
• Previous CLAS inductees: Anna Peterson, Jeff Adler, Diana Boxer, George Christou, Marsha Bryant, Kevin Knudson

• The college asks that Directors and Chairs provide the letters of support and forward them to the Dean, prior to submission, for college review no later than November, 2024 (exact date TBA).

About this award:

• Each three-year UFRF Professorship includes a $5,000 annual salary supplement and a $3,000 grant to support research, awarded in the first year of the three-year tenure of this professorship.
• 6 CLAS Awardees.

Eligibility: Full-time Associate, Full, and Distinguished Professors, who are tenured at the time of the award and who have been on the UF faculty for at least five years (as of May 1, 2024) are eligible. Part-time Associate or Full Professors are not eligible.

CLAS Policy: Department Chairs may nominate a maximum of two candidates (CV, and a brief memo) to Mary Watt (marywatt@ufl.edu) no later than February 16, 2024.

• One-time allocation of $5,000 in support of research. The award can be used to fund travel, equipment, books, graduate student stipends, and other research-related expenses (it may not be used as salary).
• Two nominations from CLAS.

• An award totaling $25,000 accompanies each Term Professorship.
• One nomination from CLAS, University will award one.
