University Scholars Program
The University Scholars Program presents undergraduate students an opportunity to work one-on-one with UF faculty to pursue fundamental research and scholarly activities and gain valuable insights into how new knowledge is created and developed. The USP is run by the Center for Undergraduate Research (CUR), directed by Dr. Anne Donnelly (adonnelly@aa.ufl.edu).
Funding
- The student stipend will be $1,750, disbursed in two installments (Early Fall and the following Spring after application). View details about the program.
- There will be a $500 award to faculty mentors to help defray the costs of the student research.
- There will be approximately 50 awards for CLAS undergraduates.
Selection and Notification Process
- The student application deadline is February 2nd.
- Departments may nominate up to 6 students.
- Department will rank its top six applicants and submit to the college via the Scholarship Application Coordinator (applications@clas.ufl.edu) no later than February 12th. The letter of transmission and the ranking can be brief. (A formal cover letter from the department chair is not necessary).
- The college selects approximately 50 University Scholars, distributed across the humanities, sciences and social sciences. CUR will notify the winners. It is the responsibility of the nominating department to notify students who were not selected.
- The nominations will be reviewed by the CLAS Dean’s Office.
CLAS Scholars Program
The CLAS Scholars Program presents undergraduate students an opportunity to work one-on-one with UF faculty to pursue fundamental research and scholarly activities and gain valuable insights into how new knowledge is created and developed. The CSP is run by the CLAS Dean’s Office.
Funding
- The student stipend will be $2000, disbursed in two installments (Early Fall and the following Spring after application). The CLAS Scholar will have $1,000 total available to attend a conference, travel to support their project, and for research supplies.
- There will be up to 25 CLAS Scholars awarded each academic year.
Selection and Notification Process
- The student application deadline is February 2nd.
- Units may nominate up to 3 students.
- Unit will rank its top three applicants and submit to the college via the Scholarship Application Coordinator (applications@clas.ufl.edu) no later than February 12. The letter of transmission and the ranking can be brief. (A formal cover letter from the department chair is not necessary.)
- The college selects approximately 25 CLAS Scholars, distributed across the humanities, sciences and social sciences. Successful applicants will be notified in March by e-mail by the nominating Unit. It is also the responsibility of the nominating Unit to notify students who were not selected.
- The nominations will be reviewed by the CLAS Dean’s Office.
